Entertaining followup on the previous episode about how to make a song your own. One of the things that is quite difficult to learn is how to take a song that is in straight eight or sixteenth time and swing it. That is – give it a triplet feel.

This also works in reverse. A jazz standard can often be reworked out of a swing into a straight feel. We have lot’s of fun demonstrating how easily you can rework a song into a completely different concept by simply changing the groove to a simple swing.

One of the important things for singers to do is to try to develop some basic skills on a keyboard. It is an invaluable tool for developing a pitch referrence and in this episode, they talk about using the drum machine in a keyboard to experiment with singing songs in straight time and swing time.
